Cleveland State XC Signs Perez

Luis Perez from Dalton, GA has signed on to join the Cleveland State men's cross country team. Perez attended Southeast Whitfield High School where he ranked 20th in the state as a freshman for the 5K with a time of 17:14 as a freshman. With potential like that, men's cross country coach, David Kyle, had this to say, "I'm really excited to see what Luis can do this year. He is leading the pack for us, but we have a really dedicated men's team that will try to keep up. Luis is a hard worker that has incredible potential. The sky's the limit for him. I think he can accomplish a lot here at Cleveland State. I'm excited to see what Luis and the rest of the team can do this first year."

Luis was coached at Southeast Whitfield High School by coach Carrie Bishop. Carrie commented, "I knew that Luis was a good runner when he came up to train with the high school. He was just so fluid and natural in his stride."  When asked how she thought Luis would do in college, Coach Bishop stated, "I think Luis will excel at the college level, because he can't not compete. He doesn't just want to win, he can't stand to lose."

When asked about his feelings after signing, Perez stated, "I'm super excited and thankful to be running here at Cleveland State. I can't wait to see what we can accomplish in the next year." Going off of that, Perez continued, "My expectations for this first year is that we do our best to complete a solid season and that we make sure we get our name out there."
