Purus Joins Cleveland State Baseball Coaching Staff

Joe Purus has been brought in as an assistant coach for the Cleveland State baseball team. An alumni of Wantagh High School, Purus holds degrees from Wilkes Community College, Milligan College and Delaware State University.

Purus played baseball at Wilkes Community College and Milligan College and was selected to the All-Region First Team twice.

As for coaching, Purus has coached multiple teams at multiple levels, some of those being, Morganton High School, Madison High School, NC State Aggies 18U Travel Team, Wilkes Community College, Western Nevada College and Delaware State University.

When asked about what he brings to the Cougar baseball team, Joe replied, "I believe I bring a positive attitude every day with the diligence to work hard and to get our players to graduate and to push them to the highest level."

As far as expectations for the upcoming season, Joe stated, "I'd like for us to finish in the top 2 in conference. I'd also like to mold our players into being the best student-athletes that they can be."
