2017-2018 CSCC Basketball Preview
Starting with the women's team, now under the direction of new head coach Evelyn Thompson, the Lady Cougars will look to bounce back from their 2016-2017 campaign. Finishing last season at 14-15 (6-12 Conference) the Lady Cougars are in pursuit of improving on their game. With a solid core returning for CSCC, the Lady Cougars are confident they can make the upcoming season, a successful one.

Assistant Coach Chelsea Jones commented, "My expectations for the upcoming season are high and I'm confident that our players are prepared to work hard to achieve success. Even with a few, small roster changes, I believe that we're still on path to starting the season off on the right foot."

Preparation for the upcoming season has been slightly altered due to the loss of 20-year former head coach, Dan Lumpkin. But with returning assistant coach Shameca Gardner and newly added assistant coach, Chelsea Jones, the Lady Cougars have been in good hands and under solid direction. With the 2017 season fast approaching, the Lady Cougars will look to show that they are a team to watch out for.

For the men's team, reeling off of a 16-10 finish from last season, the Cougars are ready to come roaring back and improve in the 2017-2018 season. Led by returning starters, Cam Copeland, Tevin Olison, Victor Curry and Romero Hill, the Cougars are prepared to continue the development of their team.

Head Coach Lee Cigliano said, "With it being early in the season, right now we are focusing on seeing individual improvement and team development. We always want to be competitive and finish as high as possible but what's most important to us, is to be playing our best basketball in February and March. Our Region Tournament Champion is the only school from our conference that advances to the National Tournament so it's crucial that we finish the regular season strong."

With the stiff competition of the TCCAA, Cleveland State will focus heavily on building off of last season and working towards a much more matured team. With our first game coming on November 1st, we can't wait to start off strong, and make the 2017-18 season, a successful one.
