Lady Cougars Roll Past Atlanta Metro

Cleveland State's Women's Basketball team defeated Atlanta Metropolitan College on Saturday, with a final score of 71-59. This puts the Lady Cougars at 2-0 on the season. Leading the charge was Abby Hubert who served up a big double-double with 34 points and 14 rebounds. Also in the mix was Jordan Smith who nearly went perfect in the game, tallying 16 points on 6-6 shooting, 1-1 from beyond the arc and 3-4 from the charity stripe. Ebony Kelly also snagged herself a double-double going for 11 points and 10 rebounds while Julia Gaither added 7 assists and 4 steals. "This was a team win. Everyone on this team has a role and the only way we are going to win is if everyone plays their role." said Head Coach Evelyn Thompson, "Atlanta Metro is a good team and gave us a great game. We had to buckle down in the second half in order to pull off the win. We had to execute offensively and make stops defensively."

Next on the schedule for the Lady Cougars is a conference road matchup against Dyersburg State Community College. Head Coach Evelyn Thompson said, "We are looking to make improvements on both ends of the floor every time we practice or play, regardless of our opponent. We know that Dyersburg State will present a tough challenge. We are preparing this week to meet that challenge."

Watch out for the Lady Cougars as they look to go 3-0 on Friday, November 10th at 6:30PM EST.
