Lady Cougars Drop Games to Dyersburg, Southwest TN

This past weekend, the Lady Cougars moved to a 2-2 record with losses against Dyersburg State and Southwest Tennessee. But with a three-game week now upon us, the Lady Cougars will look to right the ship. "Our main focus entering this week is to get some wins. We've got to stay healthy and stay together," said Head Coach Evelyn Thompson.

Losing to Dyersburg State, 70-55, Abby Hubert lead the Lady Cougars, totaling 17 points on 7-19 shooting and 6 rebounds. Also in the mix was Hannah Philps who served up 14 points on 6-11 shooting with 3 rebounds, an assist, and a steal. Julia Gaither played the role of pickpocket in this one, totaling 4 steals while Ebony Kelley had a nice game on the boards, racking up 10 rebounds.

The loss to Southwest Tennessee was a heartbreaker, with the Lady Cougars dropping this one, 63-60. Ebony Kelley was the leader in this one, laying down 27 points on an impressive 11-15 shooting performance. She also snagged 8 rebounds and swiped 4 steals. Julia Gaither added 9 points with 6 assists and 4 steals while Kyla Braden also scored 9 points with 7 rebounds and 5 assists.

Looking forward to matchups against Wallace State, Jackson State, and Columbia State, the Lady Cougars will look to jump back into the win column. "These are all tough opponents. We have no choice but to be prepared this week. No one will just give us the game, we've got to work hard and earn the win," said Head Coach Evelyn Thompson.
