Lady Cougars Eliminated From Region VII Tournament

Cleveland State's Women's Basketball team was eliminated from the Region VII Tournament on Monday night, losing to Walters State, 65-44.

Abby Hubert led the Lady Cougars in this one, scoring 19 points on 5-13 shooting. Julia Gaither tallied 10 points while snagging 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Ebony Kelley finished with 7 points, 3 rebounds and 3 steals.

Cleveland State shot 26% from the field and 25% from the arc, being outscored by Walters State's 53% from the field and 46% from the three point line. The Lady Cougars did shoot a solid 81% from the free throw line but it wasn't enough to win this one. Cleveland State finished with 15 turnovers and was outrebounded 24 to Walter State's 37.

The Lady Cougars finished the season with a 16-11 (10-8) record, a 10-3 home record, and a semifinal finish in the Region VII Tournament. This completes Evelyn Thompson's first year as the Lady Cougar Basketball head coach, in which she improved on CSCC's '16-'17 record of 14-15 (6-12).
