KiAna Queener, Alberto Dominguez Sign With CSCC Cross Country

Cleveland State Cross Country added two new runners in KiAna Quenner and Alberto Dominguez to their roster as they prepare for the upcoming 2018 season.

KiAna Queener from the Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences said she was excited to sign a cross country scholarship. The 5-foot-4,  89-pound Queener is the granddaughter of Cleveland State hall of fame member, Charles "Bozo" Queener, who played basketball from 1967-1969. CSAS coach Mark Dragoo said, "KiAna is a gifted, natural runner. She has a lot of potential." She ran in the state meet the last 4 years and was a key part of three team region championships and a runner-up finish for CSAS. "She is a great kid and a very good student. She will be a valuable asset to our women's team next year." Kyle said.

Central High School senior Alberto Dominguez signed scholarship papers to join the cross country team at Cleveland State. "It's just a start, but I'll be in their pre-health transfer pathway," said Dominguez, who has competed in the TSSAA state meet the last three seasons and helped Central win the region in 2016. "I want to thank my parents, my coaches and my savior Jesus Christ. Without him none of this is possible." Dominguez has run cross country since elementary school. "He's a hard worker, and he's an excellent student and a good guy," Central coach Jan Munson said. "He's going to be able to go to school and have it paid for and run, and then he'll have a chance to go to a four-year school. This is a good fit for him right now. He's got a lot more potential in him for running." CSCC coach David Kyle echoed Munson and added, "He's going to be a valuable asset for our team."
