Stockwell, Woods and Yell Named to All-Region Teams

Three Lady Cougars were named to NJCAA Softball All-Region teams this week. Catcher Baylee Woods was named to the All-Region 1st Team, Pitcher Shiann Stockwell was named to the All-Region 2nd Team while Outfielder Emily Yell was named to the All-Region Third Team.

Freshman Baylee Woods finished the regular season with 99 plate appearances and had 21 runs scored, 33 hits, 4 doubles and 3 home runs to go with 12 RBI's and 4 walks. Woods held a .347 batting average, .374 on base percentage and a .484 slugging percentage. Behind the plate, Woods had 186 put outs, 13 assists and only 2 errors while holding a .990 fielding percentage. Woods caught 9 runners stealing on the season as well.

Freshman Shiann Stockwell had 92 plate appearances on the season, totalling 22 runs scored, 38 hits, 3 doubles and 1 triple. Stockwell hit 2 home runs on the season and finished with 14 RBI's while drawing 8 walks. Stockwell held a .413 batting average, .465 on base percentage and a .533 slugging percentage. On the mound, Stockwell pitched a total of 171.1 innings in 25 starts out of 29 appearances. Stockwell had an outstanding 17-10 record while holding a 2.33 earned run average. She also threw 181 strikeouts, averaging 7.39 strikeouts per game. Stockwell threw 24 complete games, 4 of which were shutouts. Stockwell's batting average against was an impressive .230. She also totalled 17 put outs, 36 assists and only 2 errors on the season while holding a .964 fielding percentage.

Freshman outfielder Emily Yell had 139 plate appearances on the season, finishing with 20 runs scored, 51 hits, 8 doubles and 19 RBI's and 11 walks. Yell held a .402 batting average, .449 on base percentage and a .480 slugging percentage. In the outfield, Yell had 24 put outs and held a .889 fielding percentage while only yielding 3 errors on the season.
