Lady Cougar Basketball Sophomores Moving On To Next Level

Graduation has come and passed for Cleveland State Community College. Julia Gaither, Abby Hubert, Keya Jenkins and Kyla Braden are recent graduates from the CSCC Women's Basketball team and are moving on to the next chapter in their lives, here's a highlight of what's to come for our Lady Cougars.

Julia Gaither will attend the University of Tennessee Knoxville and study their pre-med program. Gaither won the Distinguished Student Award during her graduation as well as CSCC Women's Basketball's "Best All-Around Player" and "Women of the Year" team awards. As a two sport athlete for Cleveland State, Julia was a part of the inaugural Volleyball season as well as the Women's Basketball team. As a guard for the basketball team, Gaither averaged 12 points per game, 4.7 assists pre game and 5.9 rebounds per game in her sophomore season.

Abby Hubert will attend the University of North Georgia on a full athletic scholarship. Hubert will study elementary and special education with future plans on becoming a teacher. Hubert will be joining a North Georgia team that finished last season with a 29-5 record and an appearance in the Southeast Regional Championship. In her career at CSCC Abby averaged 17.3 points per game, 4.4 rebounds per game and 1.6 steals per game. Abby placed 11th out of all NJCAA Divison I women's basketball players in points per game this last season with an average of 20.4 PPG. Also, Abby finished first overall in the TCCAA in points per game during her sophomore season, earning First Team All-TCCAA honors. Abby also received the "Best Offensive Player Award" from her CSCC Women's Basketball banquet.

Keya Jenkins has plans to join the Navy now that she's completed school at Cleveland State. In her two years at Cleveland State, Jenkins averaged 8.1 points per game, 1.3 assists per game and 6.9 rebounds per game. After racking up 291 rebounds in two seasons with the Lady Cougars, Jenkins received the "Best Rebounder Award" at this year's women's basketball banquet.

Kyla Braden will attend Tennessee Tech and major in Early Childhood Education with plans on also becoming a teacher. In her two years at Cleveland State as a guard, Braden totalled 148 points, 66 assists, and 104 rebounds. Braden received the "Most Consistent Player Award" at the Lady Cougar Basketball banquet.
