Cross Country Adds Three Runners to Roster

Cleveland State's Cross Country team has added four runners to their 2018 roster.

Head Coach David Kyle recently signed Derek Gallardo from Dalton High School, Sadie Lane from Ringgold High School, Ashton Frazier from Walker Valley High School and his own daughter, Alexis Kyle from Cleveland High School.

Derek Gallardo was Dalton High School's top runner, holding a personal record time of 16:24 in the 5K race. Head Coach David Kyle commented, "Derek was a great pick up for our growing team, he will make a huge impact as a freshman here at Cleveland State." Sadie Lane out of Ringgold High School actually ran track for her alma mater but is excited to make the transition to collegiate cross country. Coach Kyle said, "I know she'll go up there and put the work and time in that's needed to make that transition to long distance running. She has all the physical tools from the running aspect of it, plus she's very strong mentally, so I think she'll have a good career here." Finally, Cleveland State signed Head Coach David Kyle's, own daughter, Alexis Kyle out of Cleveland High School. "It's such an honor to be able to sign and coach my own child in college. I believe she will be a great asset to the team and I'm very proud of all the things she has accomplished to get to this point," said Coach Kyle.

The Cleveland State Cross Country team will be preparing for their upcoming season soon, with their 2nd season in program history starting in September.
