Minor League Update For Wyrick, Oliver

Minor League Update For Wyrick, Oliver

Former Cleveland State baseball players, Jacob Wyrick and Hunter Oliver are now playing ball in the Cincinnati Reds farm system. Wyrick is a relief pitcher for the Billings Mustangs in the Pioneer League while Oliver is working as a catcher for the Greenville Reds in the Appalachian League.

Currently, on the year Wyrick is sporting an 8.03 ERA in 12.1 innings pitched with 16 strikeouts. Wyrick has only given up 2 home runs and 5 walks while owning a 1.38 WHIP. Wyrick's most recent appearance was on July 23rd against the Orem Owlz on a road trip where he pitched 1/3rd of an inning allowing a single hit.

Oliver currently sports a .287 batting average to go with his 6 home runs and 18 RBI's for the Greenville Reds. His most recent appearance came against the Pulaski Yankees where Oliver had an off night, finishing 0-4 with 3 strikeouts at the plate. However, just a few games before, against the Elizabethton Twins, Oliver went a perfect 4 for 4, finishing with a double, a home run and 3 RBI's on the day.

Both players are learning to adjust to the stiff competition of the minor leagues but have done well in the early part of their journey to the show. Wyrick and Oliver both should prove to be valuable assets for the Cincinnati Reds franchise.
