Men's Golf Takes 7th Place at Piedmont Invitational

Hosted by Piedmont College, Cleveland State Community College competed in a field that consisted of mainly NCAA Division III teams, including defending national champion, Methodist University. Junior colleges Abraham Baldwin College and Walters State also competed. The Cougars finished in 7th place out of 9 total teams with a two day score of 656.

The top scorer for Cleveland State was Colbe Cagle who finished tied for 11th place with a total score of 153. "Colbe had a couple of unforced errors on the first day that, had he avoided them, would have put him within one shot of the lead. We expect great things from him as the season progresses," said head coach Miles Moseley.

Mike Renner and Seth Ward were tied for 45th place each holding a total score of 170. Jared Thomas was tied for 47th place with a score of 171 while Zac Bombassi finished in 54th place with a score of 180.

Head Coach Miles Moseley commented on his team's performance at the invitational, stating, "The top two teams ran away with it, but we weren't far out of third after the first round. Unfortunately, we weren't able to find any momentum the second day. It's a long season, and we have a very young, inexperienced team. Our goal is to improve with each tournament."

Next up for the Cougars is the Chick-fil-a Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Berry College in Rome, GA on Oct. 22nd and 23rd.
