Lady Cougars Bested by Catawba Valley

Cleveland State Community College's women's volleyball faced Catawba Valley on Thursday night, losing in straight sets. 

It was a hard fought battle between the two teams as they faced each other for the first time in Cleveland State's volleyball program's history. Catawba Valley was currently sitting on a 17-7 record coming into the match, while holding a 3-1 away, 3-5 neutral record. Cleveland State came into the match with an 8-11 record while holding a 4-3 road record. 

Catawba took an early lead in the match, beating the Lady Cougars by a score of 25-14. The Lady Red Hawks led for most of the set as the Lady Cougars tried to take control. The second set again went to the Lady Red Hawks as they won, 25-20. It was a back and forth affair between the two squads but Catawba narrowly skated past Cleveland State to take a 2-0 match lead. The third and final set went to Catawba to deliver them the match victory. The Lady Red Hawks put up a score of 25 to Cleveland State's 13. 

Cleveland State is 1-4 in their last five games and will look to turn things around as they prepare for a road match against Patrick Henry Community College which will be held at Walters State's volleyball facility.
