Lady Cougars Edge Chattanooga State

Cleveland State's women's basketball team traveled down to Chattanooga State Community College for a road matchup. The Lady Cougars edged out the Lady Tigers by a close score of 56-51. 

Leading the Lady Cougars was Michaela Bennefield who totalled her season high with 18 points. Bennefield also snagged 5 rebounds and picked up 4 steals. Jordan Smith had a solid evening as well, scoring 13 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists. Za'kkria Robinson also contributed nicely, tallying 10 points to go with 8 rebounds and 2 steals. Britnay Gore went 4-7 from the field for 9 points while also snagging 7 rebounds and 2 blocks.

As a team, the Lady Cougars shot 40% from the field, 33% from the three point line and 52% from the charity stripe.

The victory puts Cleveland State at 5-9 on the season with a 3-3 conference record. The Lady Cougars are currently on a two game win streak and will look to continue that as they travel to Walters State on Wednesday, January 16th.
