Cleveland State Hires Assistant Baseball Coach

Cleveland State has hired a new assistant baseball coach.

Grant Zawadski is from Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, where he is the fourth of six siblings. He played baseball at Cleveland State for two years before continuing his collegiate career at Bryan College. His older brother Troy also played baseball at Cleveland State.

At Bryan, Zawadski was a two-time All-Conference member and was named an All-American his senior year. He also played a role in Bryan College's conference championship his senior year.

He went on to play five years professionally. For two years, he played infield, and then the last three years, he pitched for the Texas Rangers organization. He won two rings in five seasons, once with the Lancaster Barnstormers (Atlantic League) and with the Down East Wood Ducks (High A). Zawadski also has five years of coaching experience. He has been giving lessons and assistant coaching teams since his professional career began.

He currently resides in Ringgold, Ga. and is engaged to Casey Griffin, who played softball at Cleveland State. He loves spending time with his three amazing nephews and nieces and also continues to give baseball lessons in his spare time. He also coaches two teams from the Diamond Academy in Dalton, Ga. He roots for the Boston Red Sox, where his brother is a hitting coach for their organization.

We are proud to welcome Grant to the Cleveland State staff!
