Athletics Pairs With Keep America Beautiful For Service Day

All of the Cleveland State sports teams gathered together on Friday, but it was for a different goal than just winning this time around.

Athletes and coaches from all eight sports teams served Keep America Beautiful, which is an organization that, according to their website that works towards, "preserving nature, through environmental instructions, [with an] emphasis on reduce, reuse, recycle, protecting our waterways, addressing litter control and property maintenance in our community."

Cleveland State Athletics assisted the Cleveland and Bradley County Beautiful System in gathering trash, raking leaves and grass, and clearing off sidewalks around the Cleveland downtown area. The athletes met at First Street Square and then formed groups to clean various places, which included the Bradley County Courthouse, the Museum Center at Five Points, Johnston Park, Wildwood Avenue, Old Woolen Mill, and the surrounding streets.

This is the second year that all of the sports teams have participated in this event. Women's Basketball was the first to serve Keep America Beautiful, and this year marked their third year participating.
