Cougars Rout Bulldogs Twice, Sweep Series

The Cleveland State baseball team swept their series with Union College JV's squad Thursday after they went 2-0 in their first two home games of the season.

The first game they took handily against the Bulldogs, winning 11-0 in five innings. They came out firing out of the gate, scoring four runs in the first inning and three runs in the second. 1B Caleb Hopkins had four RBI and two runs scored in his 2-for-4 contest. P Tanner Doran allowed no hits in the game.

The second game saw a similar pattern for the Cougars as they won 11-0 in the six innings. They scored runs in each of the first four innings, leading to a 7-0 lead as they went into the fourth inning. C Alex Coulter's two-run HR ended the game in the sixth.1B Rhett Baldwin went 3-for-4 and recorded four RBIs in the game.

The Cougars will play at home again with a non-conference matchup against Vincennes University on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's doubleheader, as well as the game on Sunday, will begin at 12:00 ET.
