Baseball Splits Doubleheader With Motlow

Baseball split their two games with Motlow State on Saturday, but the Bucks were able to take the weekend series 2-1.

In the first game of the doubleheader, the Cougars lost 5-1 in seven innings as they could not get the offense going. Rhett Baldwin, who was 1-for-3 on the day, hit his second home run of the season  to drive in the lone Cleveland State run. Lance Dockery, who was also 1-for-3 had the other hit for the Cougars. Ryan Inches recorded 12 strikeouts.

In the second game, the Cougars won 7-4 after scoring three runs a piece in the fifth and sixth innings after trailing 4-1. Baldwin (2-for-3) and Andrew Carpenter (2-for-3) both recorded two RBIs in the win, and Tucker Mendenhall was 4-for-4 with three runs scored. Ethan Walls recorded the win, giving up just two earned runs in 6.0 IP.

Baseball is now 4-3 in conference play. They will next play on Monday as they travel just up to road to Bryan College to face the Lions in a doubleheader beginning at 4:00 ET.
