Baseball Extends Winning Streak to Five

Baseball kept their stretched their winning streak to five games on Wednesday, winning 12-1 over Shorter University JV in Rome, Ga.

Multiple Cougars had multiple RBI. CF Tucker Mendenhall led the charge, going 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored. Both LF Lance Dockery (2-for-5) and 3B Rhett Baldwin (1-for-3) recorded two RBI, each driving in one of their runs with a solo home run. 2B/SS Andrew Carpenter (1-for-2) also drove in two runs. Mendenhall, Carpenter, Dockery and DH Brock Browning also all stole two bases a piece.

On the mound, Justin Morris started the game and secured the win, allowing just one hit and striking out three in three innings of work. The five Cleveland State pitchers that appeared in the game combined to give up just four hits and strike out six while allowing just one run.

The Cougars will head back to Cougar Field Thursday to open their final regular season home series of the year against conference foe Southwest Tennessee. First pitch in the doubleheader is set for 1:00 ET.
