Cougs Post Big Sixth Inning at Georgia Highlands

Baseball suffered a road loss on Wednesday, falling 8-4 at Georgia Highlands.

The Cougars trailed by four runs after the fourth inning of play, but mounted a big sixth inning comeback. Alex Ray and Courtney Payne walked with the bases loaded to bring in the Cougars' first two runs of the game, followed by Blake Bryan driving in a third run after a fielder's choice. Cleveland State then scored their fourth run to tie the game on an error. However, the Cougars weren't able to contain a strong Charger finish in the latter innings to avoid suffering the loss.

Alex Coulter batted two-for-four in the game, while Lance Dockery had the other Cougar hit, going one-for-four from the plate. Both Jonathan Hickman and Cal Cook walked twice to reach base as well. On the mound, Reese Plemmons, Bradley Hayes, and and Brennan Davis all pitched scoreless frames in relief for Cleveland State.

The Cougars will be back in action on Friday and Saturday as they return home to Cougar Field to host St. Charles. Both day's doubleheaders will begin at 12:00 ET.
