Mike Policastro has been the head coach of the Cleveland State Baseball team for the past 27 seasons and was named Athletic Director of the college in 1999.

During his tenure, Policastro has accomplished the following:

  1. Named Coach of the Year (1996)
  2. Led the Cougars to two state runner-up finishes. (1996 & 2005)
  3. Led the Cougars to eight second place finishes.
  4. Has a complied a winning record of 786-536.
  5. Has coached 220 players who signed with a four-year college and 20 who have gone on to play professional baseball.
  6. Has had many players earn All-Academic honors.

Coaching Experience

Policastro accepted his first head coaching position at 23 in 1985, becoming one of the youngest coaching in all of collegiate baseball. While at Tennessee Wesleyan, he had a record of 144-116, led the Bulldogs to two TVAC titles (1992 & 1993) and earned two District 24 finishes. He was also named the TVAC Conference Coach of the Year twice (1992 & 1993) and the Louisville Slugger Conference Coach of the Year in 1993. 

Policastro accepted the Cleveland State position in 1993 and has been the head coach since. 

Overall, Policastro has a career head coaching record of 943-658.

Playing Experience

Policastro played baseball at Hiwassee Junior College before playing baseball at Tennessee Wesleyan College.

Education

Policastro graduated from Tennessee Wesleyan in 1983, earning a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education. 

Personal

Policastro grew up in Parisppany, New Jersey.

He is married to his wife Elaine and has three children: Chris, Michelle, and Kyle.
