Cougars Dominate in Season Opener

Yes, that is the correct score.

Cleveland State opened their season yesterday with a 107-32 victory over Tennessee Wesleyan JV.

"I thought we played well, I saw a lot of good things," head coach Rafael Howard said. "Our plan going in was to focus on us, we want to play hard, tough and play the right way being consistent on both ends of the floor is what we preach every day."

The Cougars dominated on both ends of the floor from the opening tip-off getting out to a 16-0 lead to start the game and never letting the Bulldogs get close.

Six Cleveland State players scored in double figures with Hasani Rivera leading the way with a game high 24 points. Thaddeus Johnson wasn't far behind scoring 17 of his own with Kameron Clark and Julius King, Jr. each putting in another 15 points.

"We'll work to clean up several mistakes, but overall, I thought we did well," Howard said.

Cleveland State's next game will be this Tuesday when they host Calhoun Community College. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
