"Good win tonight," head coach Rafael Howard said. "The guys played hard on both ends."
Cleveland State controlled the game from the opening tip, shooting over 50 percent from the field, winning the rebound battle 63-21, putting together 27 total assists while committing just 10 turnovers and causing the Bulldogs to commit 37 scoring 58 points off those turnovers.
Josiah Marsh scored a game high 22 points and also led in rebounds with nine. Carson Boyle put in 19 points off the bench. Dwayne Haliburton was two boards shy of a double-double with 10 points and eight rebounds while Jeremiah Hayes also filled up the stat sheet finishing with 14 points, eight assists and six rebounds.
"Tonight, we wanted to focus on details and play the right way," Howard said. "We'll need to play with the same energy Saturday against Jackson State."
The Cougars take the court again on Saturday opening their conference schedule hosting Jackson State tipping off at 4 p.m.
