Cleveland State came one shot away from picking up their first conference win on the season.
The Cougars (3-7, 0-6) lost in overtime 75-74 at Motlow State (2-11, 2-4).
"I thought we did some really good things on both sides of the ball," head coach Rafael Howard said. "We showed toughness early in the game."
At halftime Cleveland State led by six, but the Bucks put together enough in the second half to tie it up at the end of regulation.
Jeremiah Hayes led the way for the Cougars scoring a team high 23 points. Nathan Dillingham scored a game high 24 points for Motlow State.
"I thought Hayes held us in with his aggressive play in the paint and Alarric played tough defensively," Howard said. "We plan to keep working, watch film and look to be better on Saturday. "
Cleveland State returns home for their next game hosting Volunteer State (5-8, 4-1) this Saturday, December 7 at 4 p.m.
