Green Jays Pull Away from Cougars in Second Half
A four-point deficit turned into a double-digit loss at Jackson State.
The Cougars (5-13, 1-9) were down 32-28 at halftime, but the Green Jays (9-9, 4-6) put together an offensive onslaught in the second half on way to an 88-60 win.
"Our lack of toughness and inability to play with poise hurt us," head coach Rafael Howard said. "Jackson played with more energy and effort in the second half, they showed they wanted it much more than we did."
The Green Jays had six different players score in double figures with Jerry Taylor Jr leading the way scoring 15 to go along with nine rebounds.
For Cleveland State, Jeremiah Hayes put in a game high 25 points and also brought down nine boards. Joshua Brown was the only other Cougar to put up double figures in scoring with 11 on the night.
Next up Cleveland travels to third place Chattanooga State (12-5, 7-3). Tip-off is set for this Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m.
