Cougars Keep It Close With Walters State
Cleveland State went into halftime down just three and kept it close the whole night.
In the end, Walters State (14-7, 8-4) pulled ahead in the second half defeating the Cougars (5-15, 1-11) 68-59.
"Tough game, I thought we battled much better than our first game against Walters," head coach Rafael Howard said. "We're growing and learning the importance of playing with urgency on both sides of the ball."
In the first meeting between the two teams Cleveland State lost at Walters State 81-58.
Jeremiah Hayes put in a game high with 16 points. Jaden Gaines came in off the bench with 12 points along with Logan Brown putting in 10 to round out the Cleveland State players scoring in double figures.
The Senators had two players put up double digits in scoring with Da'Mori Lytch leading the way with 15 while also bringing down 13 rebounds to tally a double-double. Charvez Ambrose added another 13.
The Cougars hit the road next going to first place Columbia State (20-3, 11-2) on Saturday with tip-off set for 5 p.m.
