Spillers Ties Own Records as Cougars Place 7th at Georgetown Invite

Golf completed their competition at the Georgetown College Invitational at Cherry Blossom Golf Club in Georgetown, Ky. on Tuesday, placing seventh overall as a team.

Wes Spillers again dazzled, finishing tied for 19th in a field of 47 golfers. He also stayed on par with both of the records he accomplished last week, tying both his newly minted lowest two-round score record of 151 and tying himself and Colbe Cagle for lowest individual round score with a mark of 73.

Both Colbe Cagle and Gage Brakebill also placed in the top 30, placing 26th with a score of 154 and tied for 28th with a score of 157 respectively.

"This is one of those tournaments that's very conflicting for me," said head coach Miles Moseley. "We improved on our score from last week, but we finished much lower in the field. But, we can't get distracted by that, we just need to focus on the process of getting better. Wes has continued to start strong and Colbe came back strong in the first round to post a good score. As a team, we're still struggling to put together a decent second round. We'll take a look at everything and figure out where we can improve before the next tournament."

Cleveland State will next compete on Oct. 21 and 22 at Stonebridge Golf Club in Rome, Ga. at the Chick-Fil-A Collegiate Invitational.
