PREVIEW: Golf Opens Spring Season at Coastal Alabama Invite

Golf opens their spring season on Monday and continues their opening tournament on Tuesday as they participate in the Coastal Alabama Invitational at Rock Creek Golf Club in Fairhope, Ala.

The Cougars closed their fall season with a bang, taking a share of the Eagle Invitational title at Nob North Golf Course in Cohutta, Ga. back on Oct. 28 and 29. They will hope to continue this momentum into their spring season.

Cleveland State hopes to continue to see strong play from freshman Wes Spillers, who closed the fall season with a big All-Tournament Team honor at the Eagle Invitational. Spillers also broke multiple program records at the Chick-Fil-A Invitational on Oct. 21 and 22 as well, setting marks to beat in lowest individual round score and lowest two-day tournament score with scores of 71 and 149, respectively.

The Cougars will also hope sophomore Jared Thomas can build on the stellar play he concluded the fall season with, when he tied for 12th place and shot career-best marks of 75 for an individual round and 162 for a two-day tournament at the Eagle Invitational.

After this tournament concludes, Cleveland State will be back in action on Mar. 2 and 3 as they travel to Callaway Gardens Resort in Pine Mountain, Ga. to take on the Callaway Gardens Collegiate Invitational.
