Both Cross Country teams had a successful day at Maryville College as the men took the TCCAA Championship Title and the women ran a strong race that saw multiple personal records set. The meet was the inaugural Region VII meet, as Walters State became the second TCCAA school to start a cross country program to join Cleveland State.
Derek Gallardo was named Most Valuable Player of the meet, winning the 8k race with a time of 26:59. The Cougars swept the top four places, with Erik Martinez (27:42), Diego Guzman (28:22), and Riley Higginbotham (28:35) placing second, third, and fourth respectively.
The women did not field enough runners to earn a team score in the 5k, but they raced well. Sadie Lane led the way again for the Lady Cougars, placing fifth overall with a personal best time of 24:49. Lydia Hollis also earned a personal record, running 29:09.
