Cougars Race Strong Against Tough Nationals Field

Men's Cross Country had a great showing at the NJCAA National Championships in Albuquerque, N.M. on Saturday's 8k championship. This season was the first time in program history that the Cougars fielded a full team at Nationals.

Derek Gallardo had a big day to lead Cleveland State, placing 47th overall of nearly 400 runners with a personal best time of 26:12. Diego Guzman followed closely behind, placing 63th overall in a career-best time of 26:32. 

The next three Cougars competing also had strong races to contribute to team standings. Erik Martinez ran a time of 27:27 while Riley Higginbotham finished the 8k in 28:05. David Tullock closed his Cleveland State career with a time of 30:57.
