Softball Suffers Two Tough Losses vs. Motlow

Softball was swept in their two games on Saturday at home with Motlow and the Lady Bucks took the series 3-1 overall. The Lady Cougars are now 3-3 in conference play.

In the first game, the Cleveland State's six-run rally late was not enough as they lost 8-7 to Motlow State.

Trailing 8-1 heading into the seventh inning, Hailey Galvan singled and stole a base and Auburn Collake singled and moved her to third. After Kat Cechini walked, Hannah Turner drove in Galvan and Kati Kennedy drove in Leslie Harris, who pinch ran for Collake. Abbey Moore, pinch running for Cechini, scored on a wild pitch and then Tori Ogle drove in Turner. Emily Yell then doubled, scoring Kennedy. Summer Dean, pinch running for Ogle, scored on catcher's interference.

However, even after all of the late-inning drama and station-to-station hitting, the rally came up just short as the Lady Bucks did not allow Cleveland State to tie the game with Yell on third with two out.

In the second game, the score was also tight, as Cleveland State lost 10-8.

The Lady Cougars will next play West Georgia Tech at home on Wednesday. Their doubleheader with the Golden Knights begins at 2:00 ET.
