Softball begins a four-game series this weekend at Columbia State. Their doubleheader on Friday will begin at 4:00 ET and their two-game set on Saturday is set for 1:00 ET.
The Lady Cougars are coming off of a 1-3 series against nationally-ranked Chattanooga State. They sit at 11-12 on the year and will hope to use this series to improve their 4-8 conference record, which has them sitting at ninth in the TCCAA.
The Lady Chargers are 11-16 this year and 6-8 in conference play. They most recently played last Friday and Saturday, where they won their series with Southwest Tennessee 3-1. They have also currently won five of their last six games.
Columbia State is led by Kaitlyn Scruggs offensively. She is first in the TCCAA with a .526 batting average and leads her team in RBI (27), runs scored (33) and stolen bases (8). Hayden Lee is their top pitcher with an ERA of 5.45 in 69.1 IP and 50 strikeouts.
After this series, Cleveland State will travel to Young Harris, Ga. to face their JV team. Their doubleheader will start at 2:00 ET.
