Softball split a doubleheader with Vol State on Saturday, winning 7-1 in the first game and suffering a 8-4 defeat in the second. They fell 3-1 in the series overall.
"We didn't play our best this weekend," head coach Katie Willingham said of the series, "Our offense wasn't able to produce when runners were in scoring position and it hurt us. It's tough playing on the road, but it's even tougher when we don't do our jobs on the road. We will use the next two series to sharpen up and prepare for the [TCCAA] tournament. We have done a better job on defense and [our] pitchers are working hard to keep hitters off balance. We will keep working hard and finish strong."
The Lady Cougars will be back in action on Friday & Saturday for a weekend series at home with Dyersburg State. Friday's doubleheader will begin at 2:00 ET and Saturday's doubleheader will start at 12:00 ET with a Sophomore Day celebration in between games.
