Softball will play their final regular season home series of the year vs. Southwest Tennessee on Thursday and Friday. Thursday's doubleheader against the Lady Saluqis will start at 2:00 ET and Friday's doubleheader will begin at 12:00 ET. There will also be a special sophomore day ceremony that will take place in between games on Friday.
The Lady Cougars are coming off of a tough 1-3 series with the Pioneers of Vol State. They now sit at 17-19 and 8-15 in conference play, good for eighth in the TCCAA. Southwest Tennessee has lost five straight games, including suffering a sweep at the hands of Roane State last weekend. They are 25-22 overall and are tenth in the TCCAA with a conference record of 7-21. Cleveland State was 2-0 against the Lady Saluqis last season.
Jennie Bryant leads the way for Southwest Tennessee on offense. She is batting a team high .429 and leads the TCCAA in RBI with 64, nearly 10 more than the next closest player, and home runs with 12. Blakeleigh Garrison is also second in the TCCAA with 50 runs scored. On the mount, Destiny Upton leads the team with a 3.91 ERA, while Hannah Finley leads the team in strikeouts with 67.
After this series, the Lady Cougars will conclude their regular season with a series April 26 and 27 at Dyersburg State. The first pitch of the opening doubleheader is set for 2:00 ET.
