Softball concludes their 2019 regular season at Dyersburg State on Friday and Saturday. Friday's two-game set is set for 2:00 ET and Saturday's doubleheader will begin at 1:00 ET.
The Lady Cougars (19-19 overall, 10-15 TCCAA, eighth) are coming off of a 2-0 sweep of Southwest Tennessee on April 18 in a rainy regular season home finale. They have won three of their last four games and will look to carry that momentum into a series with the Lady Eagles that will have a major impact on the TCCAA standings. Dyersburg State is ranked fifth overall with an overall record of 21-14 and a conference record of 13-12. They have only been able to muster up two wins in their last six games and most recently split a series 1-1 with Chattanooga State on April 18.
The one-two punch of Emily and Emily lead the Dyersburg State offense. Emily Gilstrap leads the team in batting average and RBI with .342 and 29 marks. Emily Hooper has team-highs in runs scored and stolen bases with 28 and 23. Her 23 stolen bases are tied for fifth in the TCCAA. Kendall Hyatt leads the Lady Eagles with a team-high 2.51 ERA (fourth in the TCCAA) and Alley Brown has the most strikeouts with 74.
After this four-game set, the Lady Cougars will prepare for TCCAA Tournament play, which will begin on May 5 at Columbia State. Final seeding, brackets, and schedules will be released after all participating teams' regular seasons conclude.
