Softball split the two tournament games they played on Monday.

The Lady Cougars suffered a 3-1 loss vs. #2 Walters State in the first round of the TCCAA Tournament on Monday.

2B Sadie Coons scored the game's lone run, crossing home plate after a throwing error allowed CF Hailey Galvan to reach base. LF Emily Yell had the game's only multi-hit game, going 2-for-3. Despite being handed the loss, SP Kaitlyn Pickens pitched well, allowing just two earned runs and striking out three over six innings of work.

The Lady Cougars then played an elimination game at 6:30 ET shortly against #6 Columbia State. They lived to fight another day, winning 4-3 in eight innings in dramatic fashion.

1B Auburn Collake (2-for-3) hit a walk-off, two-run home run to advance the Cougars in the elimination bracket. 3B Hannah Turner (1-for-3) also hit a home run, driving in two runs. Pickens pitched eight innings of three earned run, six strikeout ball.

The Lady Cougars will, at 4:00 ET tomorrow, next play the loser of the Motlow State and Chattanooga State, who play at 10:00 ET tomorrow morning.
