Volleyball Gets Crucial Kills, But Falls to Snead

Volleyball suffered a loss at Snead State on Tuesday night, falling 3-0 to the Lady Parsons.

In the first set, the Lady Cougars fell 25-15. The set, though, was marked by Cleveland State getting crucial kills to halt Snead State runs. Stephanie Burke, Aly Grace Lemons, Abbie Stinnett, and Celie Patterson all recorded a kill to stop a string of Lady Parsons' scoring.

In the second set, Cleveland State took a 4-3 lead to start the frame. When Snead State stormed back to make the score 9-5, Burke again recorded a much-needed kill to put a stop to their run. Sydney Allen also recorded a kill at the 12-8 mark, and after another Lady Parsons run, Madeline Dasher killed the ball to score. However, the Cougars were unable to battle back, as they fell 25-10 in the set.

In the third set, Rileigh Barbour got the Lady Cougars off to a fast start, posting an ace to make the score 1-0. They also took another lead at the 12-11 mark of the set. Allen and Dasher each got two kills in the set, while Patterson also recorded an ace. The set was close, with Cleveland State falling 25-21.

The Lady Cougars will next play in the Welch College Tri-Match on Saturday. They will play Alice Lloyd at 2:00 ET and Welch at 4:00 ET.
