Lady Cougars Split Matches At Welch College

Volleyball split their two matches at Welch College on Saturday, winning against Alice Lloyd and suffering a defeat against the host school's Lady Flames. 

In the first game against the Lady Eagles of Alice Lloyd, the Lady Cougars won 3-0 with scores of 25-11, 25-22, 25-13. Aly Grace Lemons lead the team with 12 kills while also recording a serve ace and a dig. Sydney Allen had a team-high 20 assists, while also scoring on three kills and recording four digs. Rileigh Barbour posted four serve aces and eight digs, while Madeline Dasher recorded seven kills, three block assists, a serve ace, and a dig.

In the second game against Welch, Cleveland State fell 3-0. The match featured an extremely close second set, with the Lady Flames winning 27-25. The other two sets saw scores of 25-13 and 25-15. Lemons again led the team with 10 kills, and also posted three digs. Barbour again showcased a strong service game, posting three serve aces along with six digs and two assists. Loryn Wilson had a team-leading 15 assists and had five digs.

The Lady Cougars will return home on Tuesday to face Bryan's JV squad at 7:00 ET.
