Volleyball will play their first home conference match of 2019 as TCCAA foe Chattanooga State visits L. Quentin Lane Gymnasium on Wednesday evening. Match time is set for 6:00 ET.
The Lady Cougars (3-10) suffered a tough 3-0 loss in their last game vs. 11-6 Gadsden State on Monday night. The rival Lady Tigers are 4-3 to this point of the season and are in a bit of a skid of late, suffering sweeps in their last two matches. They fell 3-0 at Cumberland University in their last match out on Monday.
Ricki Lynn Bickey and Brieana Hemphill are the two major players that power Chattanooga State's offense. Bickley leads the team with 52 kills, with Hemphill trailing her by just one with a mark of 51. Hemphill also leads the team in total points with 76.5 to this point of the season, and also plays a key role on defense, leading the team in blocks with 31 total.
Cleveland State will hope to continue to get good offensive production from Stephanie Burke, who has led the team in kills each of the last three matches. She currently also leads the Lady Cougars with 86 total. Sydney Allen has also had great production in the assist category of late and now leads Cleveland State with 139. The Lady Cougars will hope both Burke and Allen will stay hot as they look to record a win tonight that has a major influence on the TCCAA standings.
After this match, Cleveland State will welcome Covenant College JV to their home floor. Match time is set for 7:00 ET on Monday.
