Allen Breaks Assist Record as Lady Cougs Tame Lady Tigers

Volleyball came through in five sets with a huge victory over TCCAA rival Chattanooga State on Wednesday. The win over the Lady Tigers is their first conference victory in program history.

The match went back and forth until the final point. Cleveland State took the first set 25-20 and the fourth set 25-19. They fell in close second and third sets, with scores of 25-22 and 25-19 that went Chatt State's way. The last set went down to the wire, with the Lady Cougars needing an extra point on a Celie Patterson kill to seal the deal with a 16-14 victory.

Stephanie Burke had a big game for the Lady Cougars. She led all scorers with a career-high 21 kills, including four in the final frame to power Cleveland State to a narrow win. Sydney Allen also had a career evening, setting the program single-match record with a game-leading 53 assists.

The Lady Cougars will hope to carry the momentum from this win into their next match against Covenant JV on Monday. Match time is set for 7:00 ET.
