Volleyball will travel just down I-75 to face Chattanooga State on Wednesday for a crucial matchup that will have a major impact on the TCCAA standings.
Cleveland State has faced the Lady Tigers twice so far this season and won both meetings. The two teams faced once in a five-set thriller of a conference matchup back on Sept. 25, where the Lady Cougars won 3-2, and once as a non-conference neutral match at the Wallace State Fall Bash on Saturday, where Cleveland State secured a 3-1 victory.
This matchup is highly pivotal for how the postseason TCCAA tournament seeding will play out on Oct. 25-26. Cleveland State holds an edge over Chattanooga State in the standings at the present moment, as they are 1-3 in the TCCAA with that win against the Lady Tigers. Chatt State is 0-3 in conference play, so if the Lady Cougars fall to the Lady Tigers this evening, they would need a tiebreak to decide the second and third seeds. However, if Cleveland State secures the victory, they will hold the second seed outright.
After this important match, Cleveland State will conclude their regular season at home on Oct. 22 against Southwest Virginia on Sophomore Night. The match will begin at 7:00 ET, with the festivities slated to start just prior to the game at 6:45 ET.
