Aaron Bryant has been the Assistant Coach & Recruiting Coordinator for the Cougars Baseball program for 18 years. He started at Cleveland State in August of 2003.

Bryant has also been an Assistant Professor for the Health and Wellness Department at Cleveland State since 2007. 

Bryant assists head coach Mike Policastro with a number of tasks, including coaching pitchers, practice planning, fundraising, managing statistical information, field maintenance, and recruitment.

While at Cleveland State, Bryant has accomplished the following:

  1. He has helped coach over 120 players to four-year colleges.
  2. Nearly 60 players he has coached have played at the NCAA Division I level.
  3. Seven pitchers he has coached have been selected in the MLB Draft.

Coaching and Professional Experience:

In all, Bryant has over 20 years of experience coaching at the collegiate level.

While playing baseball his senior year at Tennessee Wesleyan, Bryant also acted as pitching coach.

Prior to coaching at Cleveland State, Bryant was an Assistant Baseball Coach at Seminole Community College in 2002-2003, working primarily with their pitching staff. During this time, Bryant had three starting pitchers sign with SEC schools. Their baseball team was the 2003 Florida Junior College State Champions and also participated in the 2003 Junior College World Series.

From 2001-2002, Bryant was the Pitching Coach and also served as Head of the Grounds Crew for the Winchester Royals from 2000-2002.

While in Winchester, Bryant worked with elite level pitchers from all over the country.  The 2001 Winchester team had a 2.10 ERA. During Bryant’s stay in Winchester, the 2001 team was the Northern League and Shenandoah Valley League Champions and the 2002 team was the Northern League Champion.

From 2005-2010, Bryant was an Associate Scout for the San Diego Padres. He was also an Associate Scout for the Chicago Cubs from 2010-2014.

Playing Experience:

As a Baseball player, Bryant spent from 1998-2001 at Tennessee Wesleyan College.  During Bryant’s career at Tennessee Wesleyan, he was named All-Conference Honorable Mention three years.

In the summer of 2000, between his junior and senior years at Tennessee Wesleyan, Bryant pitched middle relief for the Winchester Royals.

Education:

Bryant attended Tennessee Wesleyan University from 1998-2001 for his undergraduate studies before attending graduate school at the University of Central Florida.

Aaron is married to Effie Bryant and they have a daughter, Kennedy and son, Ace.
