Cleveland State Baseball suffered a tough doubleheader loss on Saturday at the hands of Chattanooga State.
GAME 1-
In the first game, the Cougars fell 7-0 to the Tigers. First baseman Cal Cook had the lone hit for the Cougars, going one-for-three in the ballgame, while both right fielder Stokes Needham and designated hitter Reese Plemons also reached base via a walk. Bryce Houghton had a solid game for Cleveland State out of the bullpen, allowing one earned run and striking out a career-high six batters over a career-best four innings pitched.
GAME 2-
In the second game, the Cougars offense game alive, but they suffered a 10-5 loss to the Tigers. Both center fielder Lance Dockery and first baseman Brandon Lejeune drove in two runs a piece with Dockery also scoring three runs and stealing a base in the contest. Catcher Caden Smith was one-for-three with an RBI and a walk in the game, while Needham went two-for-three with two runs scored, a walk and a stolen base.
It was a solid game out of the bullpen for Bryce Clark, pitched a perfect two and a third inning frame with a career-high three strikeouts.
The Cougars will hope to get back on track on next Saturday as they host Vincennes University. First pitch in the doubleheader is set for 12:00 PM.
