Larry Simcox played Baseball for the Cougars from 1977-1979. During his career at Cleveland State, he accomplished the following:

  • Named All-State in 1979
  • Batted .408 in 1979

After Cleveland State, he continued his collegiate baseball career at Ole Miss. He had a decorated career for the Rebels, where he was named All-Western Division and to the All-SEC Tournament Team. He recorded the seventh highest batting average in Ole Miss history and broke an NCAA record for fewest strikeouts (1 in 174 official at-bats). He then went on to play three years in the Houston Astros organization.
