April 22, 2024Saturday was Sophomore Day for the Cougars baseball team. Typically teams recognize their outgoing class prior to the last home game of the season.

Cougars Split Final Non-Conference Double Header of Season
April 22, 2024Cleveland State won one and lost one in their final non-conference games of the season. The Cougars (31-17, 12-12) went to Bryan College for a double header losing the first game 6-3, but putting together an offensive show in game two winning 18-4.

Cougars Split Double Header, Winning Series Against Conference Leading Walters State
April 20, 2024Cleveland State split their double header hosting Walters State. After Cooper Casteel pitched a complete game shutout, the Cougars (30-16, 12-12) took an offensive battle from the Senators (40-12, 19-5) in game one of their double header winning 15-14, then Walters State nearly shutout the Cougars bats in the second game of the day winning 11-1.

Casteel Pitches Complete Game Shutout Against Conference Leading Walters State
April 19, 2024Cooper Casteel shutout Walters State today. He threw a complete game four hitter against the conference leaders striking out four and walking two. This was Casteel's (4-1) second complete game of the year, the first being a no-hitter.

April 17, 2024Cleveland State pulled out a win at Carson Newman today against their JV squad. There were six lead changes in the back-and-forth battle with the Cougars (28-15, 10-11) scoring the last two in the top of the ninth for a 10-9 victory.

Chargers Sweep Cougars
April 13, 2024Cleveland State went to Columbia State for a three-game series, but couldn't bring a win back home. The Cougars (27-15, 10-11) lost by a run to the Chargers (27-11, 17-4) in each of the first two games of the series, and dropped the final game 12-4.

Cougars Take Three Game Series Against Motlow State
March 30, 2024Cleveland State won the first and third games of their three-game home series against Motlow State this weekend. The Cougars (23-10, 9-6) put together a six-run eighth inning to win game one 7-3, couldn't come back losing 5-3 in game two and won the series on a bases loaded walk-off base hit in the final game.

March 26, 2024Cleveland State's baseball game scheduled for today at 3 p.m. is being postponed. The Cougars (21-9, 7-5) were set to face Calhoun Community College, but are unable to play due to the weather. The two will meet later in the season at Calhoun Community College on April 9 with a 3 p.m. first pitch.

March 23, 2024It took an extra inning this time against the Raiders, but the Cougars pulled out another win. Cleveland State (21-9, 7-5) swept the series moving into fourth place in the conference with a 14-9 ten inning win against Roane State (20-16, 6-6).

Cleveland State (17-8, 4-4) needed just two runs for the victory to start the day, but had to bang out 13 to take game two against Jackson State (12-9-1, 4-4).

Cougars Come Back to Defeat Gordon State College
March 13, 2024Cleveland State fell behind, but put together the offense to take a 6-5 win over Gordon State College this afternoon. The Highlanders (14-12) drove in four runs in the top of the fifth on two singles scoring the game's first runs knocking out starting pitcher Austin Miller. He went four innings allowing seven hits while walking one.

March 11, 2024Cleveland State won the first one, but lost games two and three in their conference series at Dyersburg State Community College (12-10, 3-3). The Cougars (14-8, 2-4) took game one 6-4, lost the first of a double header 8-6 and went down in a walk-off in game three 5-4.

The Cougars (13-6, 1-2) dropped two close games in their double header Saturday against Southwest Tennessee (10-12, 2-1), then won game three with a complete game shutout by Andrew Kribbs on Sunday.
