Austin Miller (2-1) started earning the victory pitching six innings allowing four hits while striking out six and walking two.
Will Webb, Eric Enerlich and Ben Norton each threw an inning combining to allow six hits while striking out two and walking two.
De'Yon Cannon drove in the game's first run in the fourth inning brining home Evan Goins. Goins singled in the fifth plating Nate Dunfee and Hunter Ryan to put the Cougars up 3-0.
Dylan Owens singled in Cleveland State's next run plating Cannon Stafford in the eighth. Stafford then scored an insurance run in the ninth on a Jacob Cooper double.
Goins and Ryan each went 2-3. Cooper was 2-4 while Ty Nettles finished 2-5 on the day.
The Cougars are back on the road tomorrow returning to conference play at Roane State (20-13, 6-3) for a three-game series. Due to the incoming weather the teams have decided to move up their game times and will play a double header tomorrow with an 11 a.m. first pitch and a 1 p.m. start on Saturday.
