Cougars Take Both Games of Double Header to Open Series with Cuyahoga

Cleveland State took both games of today's double header.

The Cougars opened up their five-game home series against Cuyahoga ending the first early via the 10-run rule with an 11-1 win and shutting the Triceratops out in game two 2-0.

Pitching stood out today for Cleveland State (5-3). Zane Brown threw a complete game three hitter in game one allowing one earned run while striking out four and walking two.

Riley Orr hit a three-run homer in the fifth inning to break the game open. He went 2-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Kain Collins also drove in three going 2-5 hitting a bases loaded single to clinch the game with the ten-run rule. Evan Goins also hit well going 2-3 scoring three runs.

Game two was all about Austin Breedlove. He pitched a complete game one hitter striking out ten while walking one to earn the victory.

It turned out to be a pitchers dual with the Triceratops pitcher Skyler Kries also throwing a complete game, allowing two earned runs on four hits while striking out four and walking two.

The Cougars scored the game's first run in the bottom of the third when Collins doubled driving in Harrison Garrett. Orr hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the sixth for his second on the day.

Cleveland State will host Cuyahoga again tomorrow in games three and four of the series with first pitch scheduled for noon.
