The Cougars lost their first game of the double elimination region tournament, but won out all the way until the final game.
Dyersburg State finished as the champions, but Cleveland State gave them their first loss of the tournament sending it to a winner take all finale.
The Eagles were up 4-1 heading into the bottom of the ninth before the Cougars put together a four-run inning to take the first game.
The inning started with a ground out to the pitcher before three straight walks put the potential game winning run at the plate.
With the bases loaded Ty Nettles singled driving in two runs. Will Webb then singled to load the bases again. Then, Hunter Ryan and Kain Collins each drew walks to win the game in walk-off fashion.
Game two, the winner take all championship game, ended with Dyersburg State winning 26-2.
Ultimately Cleveland State's pitching staff was spread thin throughout the tournament with the Eagles taking advantage.
After a fourth-place finish in the regular season, the Cougars took out nationally ranked Walters State and second place Chattanooga State on their way to the championship round, ending the year as the runner-up in the regional tournament and a 38-20 overall record.
