The Cougars won one and lost one this afternoon against Cuyahoga.

Cleveland State (6-4) came back winning on a walk-off error in game one 4-3 giving them a five-game winning streak, but Cuyahoga (1-2) controlled game four of the series from the opening pitch taking the game 8-4 to win their first of the five-game set.

Each starting pitcher threw well in game one with the Cougars Andrew Kribbs going six innings allowing three earned runs on six hits while striking out seven and walking one. For the Triceratops Layton O'Rourke went 5.1 innings allowing two earned runs on five hits while striking out two and walking three.

The win went to Logan Bryson who struck out the side in his inning of work.

Cleveland State was held scoreless until the bottom of the sixth where they scored three runs to tie the game. Riley Orr walked, then scored on a throwing error for the Cougars first run. Evan Goins then homered later in the inning driving a two-run shot over the fence to tie it at three heading into the final inning.

In the bottom half of the seventh Will Webb pinch ran for Ryan Langford that reached base on a walk. Kain Collins grounded to second, but a throwing error caused Webb to come around to score the game winning run.

In game two Cuyahoga went up two runs in the top half of the first and never gave the lead away. The Triceratops put together 11 hits in their 29 at bats.

The Cougars rolled out six different pitchers and allowed five earned runs, the other three coming off two defensive errors.

The Triceratops Jaren Slusher earned the victory going six innings allowing two earned runs on four hits while striking out four and not walking a batter.

Cleveland State and Cuyahoga face off tomorrow in the final game of their five-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.
