Mike Fitzgerald played Baseball and Men's Basketball for the Cougars from 1967-1968. During his time at Cleveland State, he accomplished the following:
Named Cleveland State's inaugural Most Outstanding Athlete
Led the Men's Basketball team in scoring in both 1967 and 1968
Led the Baseball team in batting average in 1967 and 1968.
Fitzgerald continued his collegiate career at University of Tennessee: Chattanooga after Cleveland State and was named a Sports News All-American Honorable Mention in 1971. He was also named an ASA First Team All-American in slow-pitch softball. He is also a member of the Greater Chattanooga Sports Hall of Fame and the Cleveland Old-Timers Hall of Fame.
